Northeastern University’s Charlotte Campus Center for Health Sciences is a state-of-the-art facility that redefines health science education through a focus on flexibility, collaboration, and sustainability. The 40,000 SF upfit in Charlotte’s vibrant South End neighborhood serves over 400 students and provides innovative training spaces for nursing, speech pathology, and health sciences programs. The project breaks the mold of traditional university design by incorporating experiential learning and flexible spaces to foster collaboration between students and faculty. With biophilic design elements, abundant natural light, and views of the outdoors, this space emphasizes the university’s commitment to sustainability, wellness, and community engagement. LEED Gold certification highlights its environmental stewardship, making it a model for green design in higher education. The project achieved a 34.6% reduction in indoor water use through the installation of low flow/flush fixtures.
